Yes, sadly, it's true. He was stabbed by a stingray through the heart and died. Steve Irwin is dead. I'm still shocked. I think I'm gonna be sick.

Sadness has been a part of my family since we heard...we loved him.
God be with his family...

Yeah when I first found out about it around midnight yesterday, I was shocked. Reloaded had posted about it on the PA. I had to look it up myself. I just sat still and then like 15 minutes later, I had to wake up my mom, to tell her about it. I also posted it in the PKC.
I actually cried for a few minutes. When mom worked as a live in caregiver, she got Direct TV, and we'd watch the Animal Planet and see his shows.
One thing good about it, if there is anything, is at least he died in a way he'd like to. I don't think he would have liked to die in a hospital.
But it is terrible that it happened so soon to him. My mom was wondering when his luck would run out, and if he could keep going. She never thought it would happen this year.
I feel bad for the family he left behind. His poor kids and his wife.
I hope that his wife and kids can keep his zoo running and help live out his dreams and help the animals he tried to save.

My mind will not accept that Steve's gone. I am horrified.
I do have a feeling that Terri, his wife, will start a show.
But Steve was my fave zoologist. The best one around, and forever will be. I hope he rests in peace. We all know that he was doing what he wanted to, and he always took risks. He knew that everything he did, he had a chance of dying, and it happened with an almost harmless animal. It could of happened to any other person, but why Steve?
I give my love to his family and friends.
R.I.P. Steve Irwin.

As my friend said, "You kind of always thought of him as a semi-immortal. You thought he would never die." And it's true. Somewhere, in the back of my mind, I knew he would be killed by something someday. But not now.
I talked to a zoo owner the other day, and what he said was basically this: "I'm old. I'm getting too old to be doing this. It's your job to carry on for me. You need to be getting the word out about animals."
It kind of showed me how that even though the bright star of Steve Irwin has burned out so suddenly, there will be others to shine in his place. Though none will shine as bright as he ever did.
