Like to lay drop down on the floor right in the middle of the room? He lays on his side sometimes flicking his tail and looking up, and other times as my mom calls it "playing dead". She's somewhat concerned about the behavior.
I'm thinking he's doing it to get attention. He also does that sometimes if I pet him or gently push him over. Sometimes he'll do that right in front of me if I move into the kitchen. Do other cats lay down like that.
This is my first cat. I've read books and stuff, but when it comes to experiencing things first hand, I'm still green to the cat realm.
Feel free to talk about your cats too.

Are you talking about the "dead frog" pose? My cat also does this weird twitching thing where she gets all wired and twitches her back and chases her tail... nobody knows why lmfao... Cats don't always go by the manual... I don't think mine read it. >^^;<

Haha, that is too rich. I'm sure it is nothing ot be alarmed about. My cats do some pretty funky things as well.

Both my kittens do that sometimes (mostly it's Ashes (a lasy little 3 month old boy lol) -- and his sister sneeks up behind him and tackles him lol -- They do lots of.. unique things so I don't really mind it I'm just amused by them lol. I agree with celina, perhaps your cat is just tired.
Although I'm fairly new to owning cats (I have 4 -- 1 is the mom and 3 is some of her kittens) Charlie (the mom) would also do some.. unqiue things (laying strangly --- etc)

I own three cats that are 9 months old and they all do something similar to what you are describing. They are all outdoor barn cats, and they will often follow me around the property. However, unlike dogs, they will not walk placidly next to me, they will bolt until they are about twenty feet in front of me (if I am walking a long distance such as from my house to my barn) and then wait for me to catch up. Sometimes, they will stand still, others they will crouch down as if they are going to pounce on me (I know they wont though, they just watch me), and still other times they will collapse onto their side or stomach, tail twitching, this is their way of telling me that they want a quick pet before walking on (my male will actually roll onto his back because he wants me to pet his stomach). if this is what your cat is doing, then there is no reason to worry, they are just looking for some attention!
