Well, Shippo is 14 weeks old now and progressing in his training. Yay!
I have taught him how to recall very successfully, and he's yet to ignore me. In fact, he hauls butt across the yard to come to me! I was surprised at how easy it was to teach, after I was told by his breeder that he either ignored her or ran the other way when she called lmfao... maybe she just was trying some other method that wasn't working lol. It's a good thing he knows this now, because we have discovered a small gap in our fence, which he has easily slipped through twice now, but I am able to easily call him back in (we are fixing the gap this weekend >^_~<).
After that, I taught him to sit, which just involved randomly walking around, stopping, and saying "sit" right before I knew he was about to sit (basically waiting for him to offer the behavior), and then praising and treating him right when he sat. Now he'll do it any time, and it's only been a week since I started teaching it! *Proud of her little puppy*
He came with some slight resource guarding issues, which I've been curbing using the "trading" method.
He still needs some work though. He thinks it's okay to jump up and try to bite whatever toy you happen to be holding. *Rubs gash on knuckle* >-\/-< He also still has a slight problem with jumping up into peoples' faces when they're down close to the ground. I'll be taking care of those problems ASAP.
I can't afford puppy classes yet, and besides he still needs his second set of shots which is due next week or the week after, so I couldn't take him anyway yet. So by the time I get him in there he'll probably also know "lie down" and "stay."
I just thought I'd share his progress, and maybe I can try to take pictures of him in a sit later (but I might have to teach "stay" first lmfao).
