My fantasy art~

So I've been writing this book and i decided to draw some of the characters and such, here is what i have so far and a short description of each~

These two are of the main character's horse, Aeryon. He is a Gypsy Vanner Stallion and her (main char's) best friend! He is a big goof and has lots of character! I love to give him person like traits and emotions and he is also a bit of comic relief!


the last one is of Aeryon being annoyed by Bumbleberry, a pixie type horse breed that flies on dragonfly type wings!

This is Scythe, another main character's horse. I'm not too happy with the way I drew his face. I'm sure I'll be drawing him again. not to mention the paper i used sucks for colored pencil work. I hate this one personally, oh well.


The following are pictures of Centaur characters. the first two are archers and the third is the King with his unicorn messenger.

This pic is not from my book, it is actually a portrait of my own horse, Parker, wearing a medieval type costume that i designed to resemble my own family's coat of arms (Hayes) so I'm quite proud of it tho it doesn't look a whole lot like him (i tried to make him look older, he's only two and a half right now) so yeah, whatever



tis all for now. when i draw more I'll add posts and i will probably add another thread for my other artwork that is non fantasy related, tho I'll prolly add my dragons to this one later~

As promised, here are my two dragon drawings!

This is a dragon i drew to look like a picture i saw online.

I really like the stripes, that was an experiment and i love the way it came out. sorry bout the blurriness!

This pic is of a female hen dragon about to lay her clutch and the head off to the side is the "male" dragon digging the nest for his girl!

they are a bit more cartooney looking than the first, but i like it. all except the moon, looks like a cookie or something. lol~

I like these drawings. The lineart is great. Now, I think the art would benifit if you practice adding value by trying a variety of different colored pencils of varrying shades of the colors you are trying for.

If you are using only crayola pencils, they are ok, but you may want to invest in some higher quality pencils like prismacolor. Once you use them, you'll find they are made of a softer wax and you can lay down richer pigment with less pressure. With them, you can also color different layers to improve the value and texture of the drawing.

A colorless blender marker also makes a good tool. It's a clear alcohol based transparent marker you color over your pencil drawing. It desolves the wax and smears the ink which fills in the areas that the paper shows through. There's also a colorless blender pencil , but I don't find it as good because it tends to leave a waxy residue that the markers don't.

yah, i use crayola cuz i'm poor and lazy, and i am also color blind so thats why i don't do shading since i can't see similar shades of the same color, but thanks for the advice anyways~
