Ok then. This is my new book. I might get it published. It's called G.E.H Please read it and tell me what you think. Don't lie just coz your my friend, and don't say it's bad, just coz you don't lik me. Give me real things to improve apon, not just, I don't like it, things like, try to be more descreptive in this part, or try starting this way. Ok, here it is. Just a few swears, I think. Well, anywho, read it!
He had found her almost dead. She lay in her bed, her body aching from the pain she had suffered. Savitri sighed and stared at the ceiling. Even breathing hurt. Lazarus walked into the room in which Savitri was resting.
“Hey, how are you?” he asked
“About the same.” She said, sighing again.
Lazarus was around 20, and lived on his own, in a small house near the beach. He had found Savitri almost dead, tied up in an abandoned factory. He did not know of her past, so he had decided to not ask until she was feeling better. Savitri looked out the small window in her room and stared into the deep blue ocean. Her deep brown eyes were so beautiful, you could almost get lost in them. She looked over at Lazarus and smiled, her eyes smiling as well.
“Do you think you’ll be able to keep down your food?” he asked, still standing in the doorway.
“Only one way to know.” She said a bit cheerfully.
Lazarus left the room and Savitri closed her eyes for a few moments. Lazarus returned, with a small bowl of rice. He walked over and leaned down next to Savitri’s bed.
“Here, try this.” He said, feeding Savitri a few pieces of rice.
She chewed it and swallowed, with difficulty, and sat for a few minutes. She stared into Lazarus’s eyes, her own, searching his. Alas, she was not well enough. She emptied the contents of her stomach onto the floor. Savitri felt dizzy, her eyes closed and she fell back onto her bed. This had happened numerous times before when she had tried to eat. Lazarus was starting to become worried about her, she hadn’t eaten in weeks. How did she manage to live that long without food? He truly didn’t understand lots of things about her. He picked up the rice and walked into the kitchen. He went back into Savitri’s room to clean up. First, though, he pulled the blankets over Savitri and cleaned up, walking back into the kitchen. Lazarus sat on a chair in the kitchen, thinking, when there was a knock at the door. Lazarus reluctantly got up to answer it. It happened to be his brother, Kenji. Lazarus didn’t particularly like his brother, but he let him in anyway.
“Hey baby brother!” said Kenji, ruffling Lazarus’ hair.
“Hey.” said Lazarus.
Kenji walked inside, with a look of disgust on his face, and sat at the dining room table.
“So, why are you here?” asked Lazarus, sitting across from him.
“Can’t I come and visit my younger brother just because?” he asked rather sarcastically.
“No.” said Lazarus rather dryly. “You came to see Savitri, right?”
“You got me, so, where is she?” he asked, looking around.
“She’s resting.”
“May I see her?”
“No, she needs to rest.” said Lazarus, with a bit of hatred in his voice.
“Why?” asked Kenji. “Where did you find her anyway?”
“Do you really want to know?”
“Well, duh!”
“Well, I don’t remember the day that well. It was rainy, and I was out grocery shopping. I had heard that some big factory had closed, so I went to go check it out. I found her tied up in a ware house. She was pretty hurt, so I rushed back home with her. That was a few weeks ago, and she doesn’t seem to be improving very much.” Said Lazarus, staring at the door where Savitri slept behind.
“Lazarus?” mumbled Savitri from her room.
“I’ll be right back.” Said Lazarus, getting up and going to see what Savitri needed, neglectfully leaving the door open to her room. Kenji, who was a very curious man, got up and followed Lazarus into her room.
“Who’s here?” mumbled Savitri.
“No one, just my pain in the a** brother. Go back to sleep,” he said, tucking her back in.
“So, that’s here?” asked Kenji leaning over Lazarus.
“Get out!” yelled Lazarus, pushing Kenji out of the room.
“Nice to meet you miss.” Said Kenji quickly as Lazarus shoved him out of the room. Savitri didn’t hear him anyway, she was already back asleep.
“Why are you so annoying?!” asked Lazarus with irritation in his voice.
“I’m sorry. I just wanted to meet her. I’ll leave if I’m such a nuisance.” Said Kenji getting up to walk out the door.
“Ok, bye!” said Lazarus, rushing him out.
When Kenji had finally left, Lazarus breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank god he’s gone.” He said, sitting down on the couch. It was getting late actually. “I should go to bed.” said Lazarus to himself, getting up and walking into his bedroom. He had been up with Savitri for the past few weeks, and his energy was depleted so much that he felt he could collapse. Lazarus shuffled his way through the hall, making sure to check on Savitri before sleeping. She was asleep as well, she looked so peaceful. Lazarus smiled and shut the door quietly and made his way to his room. Lazarus almost immediately fell on his bed. It felt so good he was a sleep within minutes.
It was morning, and the sun shone brightly through Lazarus’ bedroom window. He got up and rubbed his eyes with a yawn. He stepped out of bed and walked down the hallway. Stopping momentarily to check in on Savitri. She wasn’t there. Lazarus let out a scream and started to panic. “Lazarus! Lazarus!” Lazarus could hear someone calling to him in the distance. Was it Savitri? He started to run, everything melting away. Then, it was just black, black nothingness, with Savitri’s voice calling out to him from everywhere.
Lazarus woke with a start, panting heavily, and looking around. Savitri was standing next to him, looking down on him.
“Why are you out of bed?” he said sleepily.
“Look!” she said sounding very excited.
“What?” he asked, almost falling back asleep.
“Look!” she said impatiently.
It took Lazarus a moment, but he finally got it.
“You’re walking!” he jumped up to look her over.
“I know!” she said, almost falling down.
“Careful.” said Lazarus, helping keep her steady. “How are you feeling?”
“Better, but still not very well, but I’m walking, that’s a good sign.”
“Yes, it is, but you better get back to bed.” Lazarus led her back into her room.
It was still dark out, and you could hear the crashing of the waves outside of Savitri’s room.
“There you go.” said Lazarus, pulling the blankets over Savitri.
Lazarus turned to leave when he felt something holding him back.
“Please stay for just a little while.” said Savitri pleadingly.
“Just a little while.” He said sitting down next to her.
Savitri smiled and took a sigh of relief. She stared at out the window. She loved to do that; it always made her feel calm. Even though she couldn’t see anything, she could still hear the calm sounds of the ocean, the tide moving back and forth. That always helped her get to sleep. She closed her eyes to imagine the ocean, and ended up falling asleep.
The water bubbled up past her, it was warm. Savitri’s eyes blinked, looking around. She was floating just above the ocean, looking out to the beach. There was a man walking along it, and something about him made her want to run away. He turned and looked at her, making cold chills run up and down Savitri’s back.
“Come back.” He said to her in a hush
“Come back to what?” she asked back
“Come back” he repeated
“No, I wont!” she yelled, her memories rushing back to her like a cold flood.
Then, Savitri slipped into the ocean, and dark hands reached out to her from the bottom, trying to pull her in.
“No!” she screamed, trying to swim back up, but she couldn’t. Her breath left her, and sunlight poured into the water. Savitri closed her eyes.
Savitri awoke, covered in cold sweat. She wiped her brow and looked out the window, it was sunny out, and the sound of gulls bickering, with the mix of the waves was soothing. She looked around and saw Lazarus lying on the floor, asleep.
“He must have stayed in here with me!” she said with a smile.
Savitri got up and walked into the kitchen. She looked around for some food. All there was, was some ramen and rice.
“Ugh, doesn’t he have something nutretianol?” she asked, sighing. She was actually hungry. She seemed to be improving rapidly. She walked back into her room and shook Lazarus.
“Wake up.” She said, shaking him.
“Five more minutes.” He groaned
“Get up, I’m hungry!” she whined.
“Your hungry!” he said jumping up, and running into the kitchen.
“Geeze, did I say the magic word or something?” she asked following him into the kitchen,
Lazarus opened up the pantrys to find, exactly what Savitri just had!
“Ok, were going shopping!” he announced to Savitri. “Here, put this on.” He said, throwing her a sweat shirt.
“Why?” she asked, holding it up like some diseased rat.
“So you don’t get cold.” He said, looking through his mound of clothing for his sweat shirt. “It’s not that dirty.” he said, finally picking up a small brown sweat shirt. Lazarus went to the door to wait for Savitri. Savitri was standing in the living room, struggling with her sweat shirt.
“Here, let me help you.” Lazarus walked over and helped Savitri with her sweat shirt.
“Thanks.”
Lazarus replied with a smile.
The two of them walked out the door and down the steps to the drive way. Lazarus’ old Volvo was parked there. Lazarus opened the door for Savitri and buckled her in, since she didn’t seem to be familiar with a car. He jumped in the car and drove down into town. Lazarus drove down to the grocery store, and helped Savitri out of the car.
“Wow, what a ride!” said Savitri, pulling her hair back.
“Your hairs pretty long, I think we’ll go get you a hair cut after we finish grocery shopping” he said, picking up a strand of Savitri’s hair.
“Um, ok.” She said, following Lazarus into the store.
Savitri stepped inside, clinging to Lazarus’ arm. She had never been in such a crowded place before. Savitri clung to Lazarus’ arm, as if it were a tree, keeping a leaf from blowing away in the wind. Lazarus walked forward, and Savitri followed, looking around nervously.
“It’s ok Savitri, no ones going to hurt you.” Lazarus said, looking at her.
“Uhum.” She whimpered back.
Lazarus sighed, and walked on, grabbing a basket to get a few grocerys. Savitri did not like to be around people very much. The noise made Savitri’s hair stand on end, she was acting like a cat during fireworks.
“Um, Savitri, could you loosen your grip a little? Your kinda cutting off the circulation to my arm.”
“Oh, yeah, sorry.” She said, letting go, and relaxing a bit. She sniffed the air and the scent of fresh meat filled her nostrils.
“Lazarus, can we get some meat?” she asked in a small voice.
“Sure.” He said smiling beautifully.
Savitri smiled back, but smaller.
“Hey there!” said a voice from behind them.
Lazarus looked behind him and muttered “Oh god, not him.” to himself, shaking his head.
Kenji put his arm around Savitri and Lazarus. “Hey there cutie.” He said to Savitri.
Lazarus looked down, his eyes closed. “Don’t talk to her that way.” He said gruffly.
“Ooh, got a crush, eh baby brother?”
“No, just don’t treat her like an object!” Lazarus said rather loudly to Kenji.
“Fine, I’ll back off. I came to get cereal anyway. Now where are the Fruit Loops?” Kenji said walking off.
“Ugh.” Lazarus said to himself.
“Oh, I like him.” She said.
“If you knew him like I did, you wouldn’t like him. Well, anyway, lets go get some steaks!” he said, walking forward.
Savitri stood there for a moment, upon realizing that she was standing there alone she rushed up to Lazarus. Lazarus was looking into the meat case. Savitri came up next to him and licked her lips, it all looked so good to her.
“Savitri, stop drooling.” said Lazarus playfully.
“Oh, sorry.” she said wiping her mouth.
A man in a white apron walked up and asked Lazarus what he would like.
“Two small filet mignon please.” it was Savitri’s first time going out, and he thought it might be fun to have a little celebration. Lazarus collected the meat, and walked on, Savitri dutifully following behind. Lazarus stopped at some other isles and got a few other things, and Savitri was bewiwldered by all the new things she saw. People buying things, and putting them into wheeled carrying devices, people giving green paper to other people in exchange for the items, and all those new smells. It was almost to much for Savitri. She felt dizzy, but kept herself calm, and followed Lazarus, keeping in mind not to lose sight of him. Finally, the shopping was over. As much as she liked the new sense she was relieved to be out of all the chaos of people. Savitri breathed a sigh of relief, and looked around outside at none of the walls, not many people. Exactly like she liked it.
“C’mon Savitri!” said Lazarus, opening the door for her.
Before Savitri could walk towards the door, a small kitten walked out in front of her. It was mostly black, with some white patches, and one silver mark on her ear. She was extremely small, and very skinny. She was actually only the size of a large rat. She sat down in front of Savitri’s feet and looked up at her with big, saucer sized eyes. She mewled pitifully, and scratched her ear. Savitri stood there, staring at her for a few moments. The kitten looked up agin, and purred a bit, her eyes closed in a silent smile. Savitri crouched down, and patted the kitten gently. The kitten reached up, stretching her paw up, silently asking “Will you take me home? Will you love me?” Savitri gently pick up the kitten, coddling her in her arms, the kitten closing its eyes, thanking Savitri. Savitri got into the car and put on her seat belt.
“Look what I found.” she said, showing the scrawny beast to Lazarus.
“She’s cute.” he said, starting the car and pulling out. The vibration of the cars engine woke the kitten up, and she jumped onto the dash board. She spun around a couple times, and lye down, snoozing. She looked almost like she was a dash board ornament. They both just smiled, she wasn’t doing anything to cuase them trouble, why not just leave her there? Lazarus turned down a street, parking in a small space in front numerous shop windows, one happening to be a salon. Lazarus helped Savitri out of the car, leaving the kitten in the car. She didn’t seem to notice, she was already snoring. Savitri walked through the doors, a small bell ringing softly as they walked in.
“Hello, can I help you?” asked a red haired secratery.
“Yes, do you have any openings for a hair cut?” said Lazarus
“Yes, please come back here.” she said, leading Savitri over to a chair, and putting a black apron around her, to keep the hair from getting onto Savitri’s cloths.
Savitri sat there, fidgeting with her hands. This reminded her of something from her blurry memeroy, but what? The hair dresser cma eover and asked her what she wanted her hair to look like. Luckily Lazarus came over and told the hairdreeser what he thaught would look good on her. Savtri sat there, and watched her hair fall from the severed strands. She wondered how she would look after this was all done. Lazarus sat in the waiting area, reading a two year old magazine. He was a little worried about Savitri, even though it was just a haircut, he didn’t know how she would react to it. After what seemed an internity, Savitri walked out, her head down. Savitri was scared of what Lazarus might think. She looked up, her hair very short, but extremely beautiful. Her hair previously had been done to her knees, and now it was up to her shoulder. She smiled, her hear flowing back. Lazarus smiled back, he couldn’t help thinking of how wonderful she looked. He payed the hair salon secretary, and walked out of the salon.
