These are quite popular these days. Everyone has some "poo"-mix or chi-mix that they're carrying around in their designer carrier/purse like a fashion statement. They pay thousands of dollars for these mutts and think that just because they have some fancy nickname like "cockerpoo" or "schnoodle" that they're an actual breed with a pedigree and a standard, when in fact they are nothing more than 2nd generation crosses.
People breed these things for money, and most of them don't health test their dogs beforehand. Many people that were duped into buying them will end up dumping them at the pound eventually, to add to the surplus of unwanted pets that are euthanized every year.
I think this designer mutt fad is disgusting and I'll be happy to see it pass. >-\/-<

Oh, I know, it's horrible.
All very well and good if you really want a pet dog, and say know a breeder of these not-really-real breeds. If you can look after it, and will love it more than an item of clothing, fine. But yes, you do get a lot of people just using them as ornaments, completely unaware that they now have a real living animal to look after.
It started from the whole Paris Hilton/Britney Spears crap... They got some dogs to put up for show, now everyone wants one.
It'll probably die down, like every fad...

Oi vey. I don't even know where to start on this. I don't see the point in all these celebrities adopting these so called "designer mutts". What do they do with them?
Use them for publicity! The media sees a celeb with a dog, and it's instant front page. I reccently saw an ad in the Carolina Trader (Local paper) for a Puggle. A beagle/pug cross. Grr. It made me so mad. The ad said "Designer Dogs here!" And they were selling them for OVER $1000!
That's rediculous when they have mutts in the shelters waiting to be adopted!

I know!
So because something has a fancy name, it's a breed? So if I had a GSD/Dane/Labrador dog, it'd suddenly become a German-Daneador? It's stupid.

Daneador. I think that anyone who lies to people instead of coming out and telling them "It's mixed breed" is a cheat. It's one thing to have a poodle cross and be honest about it and another to make up some goofy sounding nickname for it and sell it as a purebred. (Some people like poodle crosses because supposedly poodles are easier for people with allergies to handle. Granted, not all crosses will have the right type of coat/dander, but some do.) I like mutts because you never know what you'll get, but I wouldn't go out and pay $1,000 bucks for one just to line someone pockets. I'd rather go adopt one, or heck, pick one up off the street (NOT recommended...you honestly don't know where they've been. LOL)

That's like I saw an add for a Huskydor. A Husky/Labrador mix. Labraollie. Collie/Lab Peek-a-Poo. Pekinese and Poodle. Schnoodle. Schnauzer (sp?) and Poodle.
Oi, I could go on and on.

Tell me about it! It's just how people act like they're purebreds. What seperates them from the 'mutts' at kennels?

I saw a Puggle in my paper, too. Honestly, I think it's all overrated. Mutts are mutts. My dog is a BC/Chow mix, and we don't go around callin' her a Chowder or anything. LOL

A Chowder! Lmfao! That's great. But yeah, a mutt is a mutt. I don't go around calling my Coyote/Border Collie/Lab/Chow/Canaan Dog/Dalimatian mix a Coyorabowaantian. I don't think I could say that if I tried. xD

I know. I hate it when there are these breeders taking dogs that don't have god blood lines, and have been known to have diseases in there familys and breeding them! Calling them purebredds, phh. My boyfriend has a cokerpoo, and he is the most annoying dog! He's has a realy nasty temperment. He is always getting into things, and eating choclate, and costing them like thousands of dollers in vet bills! Not to mention they bought him for 1000$! I have a purebred toy poodle, and the breeder I got him from bred schnoodles and cockerpoos as well. But she didn't do it for money, she did it for the people who wanted a dog that had ppdle hair, you know, no allergies, and didn't want a poodle. And you could tell to, she made sure you wern't buying the dog just becouse, ooh, he go's with my couch! I mean, there just mutts with fancy schmancy names! Ughh, I hate it! I mean, ya, I understand breeders of PUREBRED dogs, it's to further the breed. But, I mean, cockerpoos, and people make up fake histories for them to, just to further convince the buyer! Well, I don't have anything agtainst labradoodles, because the AKC has documented them as being created in Australia as being created for the people who needed service dogs, and were allergic, but I mean, puggles!? And don't even get me started on the teacup thing! Peopl can be such money grubbing idiots!
